Viking Youth Baseball CampThe annual Viking Youth Hitting & Pitching Camp will be held on Saturday, February 2 and Saturday, February 9, from 1-3:30 pm in the TVHS Auxiliary Gym. The 8th grade baseball team of Teays Valley East Middle School wrapped up their 2010 campaign with a 26-1 victory over Teays Valley West. The East Vikings are the 2010 MSL Champions and only had one blemish on their record, a tough fought 5-3 loss to Logan Elm. The Vikes finished the year at 13-1 (two rainouts against Amanda Clearcreek and Hamilton Township were not able to be made up), while every other MSL team had at least three losses. Austin Cox picked up his fourth win of the year by throwing three good innings. Austin struck out three and yielded only one run. Patrick Williams shut the door on West by striking three batters out in the 4th inning. Teays Valley East Middle School defeated Canal Winchester 7-2 in 8th grade MSL baseball action Tuesday night. The convincing victory makes the Vikings 12-1 on the season and also locked up the 2010 Mid State League team championship for the longballers. Cody Seison again had a tremendous outing on the hill, pitching 6 dynamite innings while striking out 10 and giving up only 2 earned runs. Austin Cox pitched one inning of strong relief to seal the deal for the boys form the Valley. TVEMS whill close its season this Saturday against Teays Valley West, which they defeated 12-0 earlier this season. The players of America's pasttime from Teays Valley East Middle School caged the Tigers of Circleville 6-2 to improve their record to 10-1 on the 2010 baseball season. Austin Cox pitched three strong innings to earn the win, giving up no earned runs and striking out four. Brandyn Darnell picked up the save by pitching four scoreless innings. The Vikings have now set their sails toward the Rangers of Hamilton Township where they will look to move to 11-1. The TVEMS 8th grade roundtrippers bounced back from their first loss of the year with an incredible 4-3 win over Bloom Carroll. The Vikings now have a commanding lead in the MSL and control their own destiny in winning the MSL championship. The win improved the Vikings to 9-1 as they look to continue their MSL dominance this week. The 8th grade leatherhands of Teays Valley East Middle School suffered their first loss of the year on an extremely slow field at Logan Elm. Dalton Wilburn pitched well in the loss, surrendering only 3 runs while striking out two. The Vikies are now 8-1 on the year. Teays Valley East Middle School's 8th grade baseball team earned their 8th victory against no losses by conquering the Falcons of Fairfield Union for the second time this season. Chris Mills pocketed the mound win to put his first "W" in the win column for the year. Chris gave up two runs in three innings while striking out five. Cody Seison and Patrick Williams both provided excellent releif work to help seal the win. The Vikes will look to improve to 9-0 against Logan Elm Thursday night. The invasion was led by Cody Seison, who threw five innings and earned four strikeouts, all while taking his record to 3-0 for the '10 season. Dalton Wilburn pitched two innings of strong relief to help seal the victory. The Vikes will look to continue their winning ways against Teays Valley West Middle School this Saturday. The 8th Grade Vikings of Teays Valley East Middle School earned their 4th victory of the season by defeating Bloom Carroll 6-5. The Vikings let an early lead slip away, but chalked up the winning run in the bottm of the 7th by loading the bases early and pushing a run across with a hit batter. The Viking East 7th grade continues their winning ways by run ruling the Bulldogs in 6 innings. Trevor Watkins started for the Vikings, left early due to arm soreness. He was relieved by Rian Kaut in the second inning. Rian pitched a great game giving up 4 hits and 1 run in 5 innings. The Viking bats were very active. Robbie McKinney went 4 for 4, Davis Keel and Cloby Harris each added 3 knocks to lead the Viking charge.
The Vikings posted an impressive victory against a usually pesky Braves team. Robbie McKinney posted the win after giving up just 1 run on two hits in 3 innings. Kolton Kirkpatrick closed the game by giving 2 solid innings where he gave up 1 run on two hits. Eleven Vikings scored in the game and nine players had at least one hit with Rian Kaut smashing an inside the park home run.
The Vikings earned an opening day victory by defeating the Falcons 13-4. The victory was due mostly to sloppy defense on the part of Fairfield Union who had 8 errors and walked 10 batters. Trevor Watkins, Rian Kaut, Tom Cain and Marshall Wright each had base hits for the Vikings.
