2010-04-19Location: AwayTeays Valley: 2Central Crossing: 3

Teays Valley was once again knocking on the door to winning their first match as a team this year, but once again lost to their opponent 2-3.  Garrett Strawser lost to his opponent 0-6, 1-6.  Jacob Studebaker lost to his opponent 0-6, 3-6 and Cody Craig was defeated at the Third Singles flight 1-6, 1-6.  The two doubles teams both won their matches.  At First Doubles, Rex Carlyle and Kyle Lally won their first match of the year defeating their opponents 6-4, 6-3 while Jorge Salvatierra and Jordan Hill won their second match of the year, defeating their opponents 6-2, 6-0.


2010-04-15Location: HomeTeays Valley: 2Hamilton Twp.: 3

The Vikings took to the Courts again, this time against Hamilton Twp.  This was the Viking's best effort as a team so far.  Even though the team lost by a score of 2-3, overall everyone is improving considerably.  At First Singles, Garrett Strawser lost 1-6, 0-6 while Jacob Studebaker defeated his opponent 6-0, 7-5.  At Third Singles, Cody Craig lost to his opponent 1-6, 2-6.  At Second Doubles, Jorge Salvatierra and Jordan Hill won their first match of the season soundly defeating their opponents 6-0, 6-1.  In the deciding and final match of the night, the First Doubles Team of Rex Carlyle and Kyle Lally lost a heart-breaking match in three sets:  3-6, 6-2 and 2-6.  In JV action Steve Mundy and Lane Quinn lost to their opponents 6-8.

The Teays Valley Tennis Teamtook to the courts again, losing to a very good Grandview Hts. squad.  At First Singles, Garrett Strawser was defeated 2-6, 5-7.  Jacob Studebaker went down to defeat by a score of 2-6, 0-6.  At Third Singles, Cody Craig wasdefeated 0-6, 1-6.  At First Doubles, Rex Carlyle and Kyle Lally lost 0-6, 0-6 while the Second Doubles Team of Jordan Hill and Jorge Salvatierra were defeated 4-6, 1-6.  In JV action the Doubles Team of Steve Mundy and Lane Quinn were defeated by the Grandview 1-8. 


2010-04-10Location: HomeTeays Valley: 0Whetstone Tourney: 4

Sophmore, Jacob Studebaker represented Teays Valley in the Singles Division and Juniors Garrett Strawser and Cody Craig represented the Vikings in the Doubles Division of the Whetstone Tournament at the Park of Roses in Clintonville.  Jacob played two hard fought in the first two rounds, losing 3-6 to his opponent from Whetstone,then losing a tough match to his opponent from Worthington Christian.  Jacob also played a preliminary set against the eventual champion from Bishop Ready, losing 0-6.  In the consolation round Jacob lost another hard fought 10 game "pro-set" to his previous opponent from Columbus Whetstone, losing 8-10.

In the Doubles Division, Garrett and Cody also played three preliminary matches, losing 2-6 to their opponents from Bishop Ready, then losing their second round match 1-6 to the doubles team from Worthington Christian and then falling 2-6 to the doubles team from Columbus Whetstone.  In the Consolation round, the duo played their best match, but once agin lost to the Doubles Team from Ready. 


2010-04-05Location: HomeTeays Valley: 1Watkins Memorial: 4

Teays Valley once again took to the courts andcontinue to show signs of improvement at all levels.  Despite another loss, the Vikings did win at Second Singles with Jacob Studebaker posting a 6-4, 6-1 winover his opponent.  At the other courts, Garrett Strawser lost a hard fought first set 4-6 before losing the second set 0-6.  Cody Craig also lost a hard fought match at Third Singles 1-6, 4-6.  At First Doubles, Kyle Lally and Rex Carlyle continued to show signs of improvement despite a 3-6, 3-6 setback and Jordan Hill and Jorge Salvatierra were defeated 1-6, 1-6 at the Second Singles Court.  The Vikings are scheduled to begin MSL action on Thursday April 8th at Home against Bloom Carroll.  Hopefully everyone will come out and support the Team

 

 


2010-04-01Location: HomeTeays Valley: 0West H.S.: 5

Teays Valley hit the courts for their second match of the year at home against a sneor laden West squad.  The Vikings played much better in this match, but once again suffered a 0-5 loss.  At 1st Singles Garrett Strawser was defeated 2-6, 0-6; at 2nd Singles Jacob Studebaker lost 2-6. 1-6; Cody Craig lost at 3rd Singles 4-6, 0-6.  At 1st Doubles Kyle Lally and Rex Carlyle lost a hard fought match 1-6, 5-7 and at 2nd Doubles Jordan Hill and Jorge Salvatierra lost another hard fought match 4-6, 2-6.  In JV action the team of Lane Quinn and Steve Mundy lost 2-8 in an eight point "pro set".  Thanks to everyone who came out and provided support to the team!  Our next match is Monday, April 5th at Home against Watkins Memorial starting at 4:00.m.


2010-03-30Location: AwayTeays Valley: 0Washington C.H.: 5

Teays Valley Boys Tennis Team opened their 2010 season on March 30, 2010, at Washington C.H..  At 1st Singles Garrett Strawser lost 1-6, 1-6;  Jacob Studebaker was defeated 0-6, 4-6 at 2nd Singles; and Cody Craig fell 2-6, 0-6 at 3rd Singles.  The 1stt Doubles team of Kyle Lally and Rex Carlyle was defeated 06, 1-6 and at 2nd Doubles Jordan Hill and Jorge Salvatierra were defeated 1-6, 2-6. In JV action the Doubles Team of Lane Quinn and Steve Mundy was defeated 2-6, 2-6. 

The 2010 Vikings are very young and are progressing with each practice.  Their next match is Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Home against Columbus West H.S.


2009-05-09Location: HomeTeays Valley: 0MSL tournament: 0

The Viking tennis team secured its third consecutive MSL title Saturday when Wesley Maher won the 2nd singles section of the tounament.  Played in a windstorm and full of surprises, neither Hamilton nor Teays Valley could take advantage and the day ended in a 20-20 tie, their second co-championship in a row.  Mark Dixon earned a point with his win over Circleville but lost in the finals against Hamilton.  Wes won his early round and also played in the finals, earning the championship for Teays Valley with his victory.  Congradulations Vikes!

Work still remains as the Vikes take on Watkins tonight @ Watkins and Groveport and Grandview at home Tues and Wed.  Sectionals will be Friday at Pickerington Central, the old High School.  Coach Petty


2009-05-05Location: HomeTeays Valley: 4Circleville: 1

The Vikings tennis team wrapped up league play with an exciting 4-1 win over Circleville.  All year we have struggled at doubles but a suggertion by Reed Strawser brought a hard fought win at 1st doubles where  Reed and Camron won, 6-3, 6-4.  2nd doubles lost 6-4, 6-4.  Brett Passen won his match 6-1 6-1 and Mark Dixon easily defeated his opponent by the same score.  The match of the day featured Wesley Maher against a skilled Phillip Locklear from Circleville.  This match featured long points, hard hitting and endurance as it  went the distance with Wes getting the victory, 1-6, 7-6 6-3.  The tennis team completes league comtetition this Saturday hosting the MSL tournament with a 9:00 start time.  Coach Petty


2009-04-25Location: HomeTeays Valley: 0: 0

The 1st Viking invitational was held Saturday featuring matches with Grandville, Maimi Trace and Jonathan Alder.  Teays Valley was in the finals of three of the events, Brett Passen 1st singles, Wesley Maher 2nd and Mark Dixon 3rd.  Brett lost in an exciting match 10-9 in a tiebreak, Wes and Mark lost in equally exciting matches, both by scores of 10-8.  In doubles, both lost in the early rounds, Camron and Jacob 4th and Reed and Garrett Strawser, 3rd.  Teays Valley tied for 2nd with Maimi and Grandville won with 18 points


2009-04-24Location: AwayTeays Valley: 2Hamilton Township: 3

The Vikings tennis team suffered a dissapointing 3-2 loss to Hamilton Township Thursday giving the team their 1st league loss in two years.  Every match was close, including tiebreaks in both 1st and 2nd singles.  Brett Passen won at 1st singles and Wesley Maher won at 2nd singles.  Mark Dixon lost 7-5 and 6-4 in a very close match and both doubles teams fought hard but could not prevail.  Tonight London comes to Teays Valley in a 4:00 match.


2009-04-18Location: AwayTeays Valley: 0Whetstone Tournament: 0

After wins against Canal Winchester and Franklin Heights, Teays Valley won 2nd place in singles and 3rd place in doubles at the Whetstone Tournament.   Brett Passen defeated West and Westland to get to the finals in singles.  In the finals, Brett played his best tennis to date but lost 10-6 to DeSales, who had only lost 4 games in the tournament. 

     In doubles, Wesley Maher and Mark Dixon teamed up to defeat Centennial to get into the 3rd place bracket against West.  DeSales was victorious in the 1st round.  The match against West was long and tough, but Wes and Mark prevailed in a 9-8 tiebreak.

     The Vikes take on London Monday at 4:00


2009-03-31Location: AwayTeays Valley: 3Central Crossing: 2

The Vikings won their second straight match by the slimmest of margins (3-2) yesterday against a determined Central Crossing team.  Brett Passen and Wesley Maher were again dominant at singles, winning in straight sets.  Reed Strawser played his 1st match at singles and played well in defeat, 6-7 3-6.  In doubles, Camron Taylor and Jacob Studebaker won a hard fought 6-4 6-4 match and Garrett Strawser and Cody Craig lost a competitive 2-6, 4-6 match.   Coach Petty


2009-03-30Location: AwayTeays Valley: 3Westland: 2

The tennis team sucessfully began its season with a 3-2 win over a strong Westland team.  Brett Passen played outstanding and won his match in straight shutout sets, 6-0 6-0.  Wesley played a strong 2nd singles winning 7-5 6-4.  Mark Dixon played way above expectations, coming from his sick bed to lose in a third set tiebreak.  1st doubles played together, (Camron Taylor and Jacob Studebaker) for the first time and played well at times but lost in a three set match.  Reed and Garrett Strawser rounded out the match with an impressive 6-1, 6-1 win.  The Vikings take on Central Crossing tomorrow at 4:30, Away . 2008-12-30Location: HomeTeays Valley: 48Chillicothe HS: 80

With a convincing win the boys team is now 3 - 0 in dual meets.  First place swims by 200 Medley Relay (Kobi Sethna, Remi Langaard, Addison Miller, Camron Taylor), 200 IM - Remi, 100 Butterfly - Camron, 500 Freestyle - Addison, 200 Freestyle Relay (Miller, Taylor Conn, Sethna, Langaard), 100 Backstroke - Addison and 100 Breaststroke - Remi.
