In what has come out early on as the "game of the year" the Lady Vikes of West played host to the Braves. After trailing in the fourth quarter 21 to 15 The Lady Vikes of West came up with a game to remember. With 15 seconds left trailing by 2, Mallory Grabans came down the floor and spotted up for a 3 pointer. After making it, we went up 1. The Lady Vikes of West defense was so good that Logan Elm had a difficult time getting the ball in and down the court. Mallory Grabans then got fouled with 5.6 seconds left taking the line for 2 crucial free throws in which she iced the game by making them both giving us the lead for good by 3. In the end The Lady Vikes of West won 27 to 24 with a clutch preformance by Mallory Grabans.

This by far was the best defense the girls played this year. Teamwork and Heart is what decided this game. Leading the way was Mallory Grabans with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Kendall Capretta also added 4 points, 12 rebounds, 5 blocks and 2 steal. Bailee Sturgeon also added 2 points, 4 steals and 3 assist. Our girls started the new season off with a big win over the Falcons. We came out very determined to get the win and handled a full court press well. The lady vikes jumped out strong and had a ten point lead at half. The Falcons turned up the pressure in the second half and our ladies held their own and won by five . Last year the Falcons beat this group twice during the regular season , so the girls really wanted to make a statement by coming out strong and playing hard. The whole team played great  in the opener and we had balanced scoring as six ladies got into the act. Leading the way was Darby Martin 7 pts, Ashley Rice 5 pts, Suzanne Mays 4 pts, Vivian Dupler 4 pts, Ashley Fortner 3 pts, and Kayla Harmon 3 pts. Our bench put in valuable minutes to help the team get trough early foul trouble. Great job by the entire team.
