The JV Vikings capped a 23 point second half come back with a 3 point shot at the buzzer in overtime to defeat the Tigers. The Vikings came out of the lockerroom very slow and sluggish. We were not able to get anything going offensively or defensively at all. The Vikings were down 15 - 6 after 1 period and 34 - 13 at half. The second half saw the Vikings claw their way back into the game with a tough diamond press and converting them into easy layups. The VIkings trailed 41 - 34 after three periods and the fourth period was a fast action paced as the Vikings completed the comeback with 4:15 left in the fourth period. The Vikings went up by as many as 5 in the closing seconds of the period, the Tigers never gave up and had a chance to win the game with 3 seconds left on the clock. In overtime the VIkings and Tigers battled back with neither team establishing control. With the score tied at 59 with 18 Seconds left the Vikes took a time out to set up a play, we worked the ball around and when the Tigers defended the play Jacob Betts hit a 3 as time expired. The Vikings lossed a tough game last night at Logan Elm. The Vikings came out slow falling behind 16 - 6 after the first period. The Second period saw the teams battle each other with the Vikings going into the halftime break down 10. The second half the Braves turned up the pressure and wore down the Vikings in winning the second half 28 - 14. I felt the kids played hard and never gave up, we need to keep improving and getting better everyday in practice. Scoring for the Vikings: Kevin Tavenner had 8, Tyler Dresbach added 7, Vic Preist had 6, Dominic Koah added 5, Brenden Niezgoda had 4 and Ben Hite had 1. The JV Vikes came up 2 points short in a great JV basketball game. The game was close after 1 period with CW up by 1, the 2nd period saw the Indians taka a 10 point lead into the lockerroom. In the third period the Vikings used some good D and converted on the offensive end inside to close the gap to 2 points heading into the 4th period. The 4th period saw the game go back and forth with both teams holding a 1 or 2 point lead just to see the other team erase the deficit. The Vikings missed a jumper at the buzzer to end regulation. Overtime was thrilling as well as both teams battled, CW made 2 free throws with 8.6 seconds to go, TV called Time out and set up a last second shot, the shot glanced off the backboard as the horn sounded. Teays Valley put 3 players in double figures and was able to hold off a late rush by Jerome in sealing the first win of the year. The JV Vikings capped off their season with at 11 point win over the Falcons. The Vikings jumped out to a 3 point first quarter lead. The second period saw a lot of defense from both teams and little offense as the Falcons took a 1 point lead to halftime. The third period saw the Vikings outscore the Falcons to tie the score after 3 periods. The fourth period started with a 7 - 0 TV run, fueld by the Viking bench. Our bench was huge for us tonight in the win and lit the fire for our team. The Vikings scored 22 points in the fourth period to dispose of the Falcons. Scoring for the Vikings: Kevin Tavenner had 13, Zach Poole added 11, Dominic Koah had 6, Cole Bowling and Vic Priest each added 5, Joel Torr and Blake Dolder each had 3, and Celtic Brady added 2. The JV Vikings played a solid all around game in defeating the Tigers. The Vikings used solid defense and some good rebounding in controlling the game. The Vikes allowed the Tigers to score 14 points in each half, with no more than 9 points in any quarter. Offensively the Vikes used crips passing and connected on high percentage shot in disposing of the Tigers. Jumping out to a quick 15 point first quarter followed by a 26 point secon half the Vikings scored the first points of the game and never trailed. Scoring for the Vikings: Cole Bowling had 11, Kevin Tavenner added 10, Domonic Koah knocked in 8, Zach Poole added 6, Celtic Brady, Travis Jacks and Mac Coe each had 3, Vic Priest added 2 and Joel Torr had 1. The Vikings Finish their season on Friday at home vs. Fairfield Union. It will be Senior night as well as Hall of Fame night.

The JV Vikings played a solid game tonight. The game was equal for every quarter. We were tied after 1 and at the half. We held a slight 6 point lead after three only to see it disappear late in the fourth. TV trailed by 3 points with 30 seconds left and we made a 3 to tie the game. The Bulldogs worked the ball around and made a 19' contested jump shot with no time left for the win. The biggest lead in the game for both teams was 6 points. Both teams battled and played great defense and were solid on offense. Then went 7 minutes without a basket as Canal built a 15 point lead after 3 periods. The 4th quarter saw the Vikings rally with solid free throw shooting and a stingy press to cut the lead to 6. We were unable to get any closer as we missed some key shots late in the game. The JV Vikings were unable to shake off 3 periods of rusty play as the Bruins pulled ahead early and held off a late charge by the Vikings. The first half saw the Vikings cold shooting combined with the Bruins transition and second chance baskets, put the Vikes in a deep hole. The second half saw the Vikings outscore the Bruins 31 - 24, but the deficit was just too much to overcome. A late charge by the Vikings closed the gap to 6 with 1:30 remaining. The Vikings got some timley turnovers in the last 1:30, but could not get any shots to drop. The Second half was a different story as we were unable to stop the Mustangs as we gave up 35 second half points. The Vikings battled and rallied in the fourth quarter, closing the gap to 2 points. We were unable to get a couple of key stops down the stretch and they made their Free Throws in sealing the win. The third period saw the Vikings take a brief 1 point lead before losing that lead late in the third period due to some hot shooting by the Lions and some untimely misses by the Vikings. The Vikes trailed by as many as 15 in the 4th period and cut the deficit to 4 before falling to the Lions. I thought our kids played well and grew up tonight both physically and mentally. I am very pleased with their progress over the last couple of weeks.
