2010-06-03     Athletic Meetings

Athletic meetings  for the 2010-11 school year will be held at Teays Valley High School on Thursday, July 29, Tuesday, August 3 and Thursday, August 5 at 7:00 PM in the auxiliary gym.  Any student, along with at least one parent,  in grades 7-12 who plans to participate in the sports program at Teays Valley next year must attend one of these meetings.  General information about the sports programs is covered during this meeting and required paperwork is completed and turned in prior to leaving.  The meeting normally lasts about 45 minutes.


2010-05-04     MSL Champions

Congratulations to the Varsity and JV softball teams on MSL championships.  This marks the fourth consecutive undefeated championship for our JV team.


2010-04-29     Fitness Center

The Fitness Center is open for public use on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings from 7:00-9:00 PM and Saturday morning from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM.   Community members and alumni older than 18 may use the facility during this time.  Students must use the facility during times it is supervised by school personnel.   This community time is limited to the fitness center only. 


2010-02-25     MSL Champions

Congratulations to the Girls Basketball team and the Wrestling team for winning MSL Championships.  This is the Wrestling teams third consecutive, undefeated MSL title.


2009-11-03     MSL Champions/Special honors

Congratulations to the following teams for winning MSL Championships this fall:

Girls Tennis - Undefeated in league play.  Adrien Leatherwood, MSL Player of the Year

Girls Soccer - Undefeated in league play, 12-3-1 overall.  Alex Davis, MSL Player of the Year

Boys Soccer - 1st League championship in school history.   Nathan Buxbaum, MSL Player of the Year

Boys Cross Country.     The boys team also qualified as a team to the Division 1 Regional.   Taylor Conn has qualifed to advance to State Meet on 11/7 at Scioto Downs.

Boys JV Golf and TVMS-E Boys Cross Country were also league champions this fall.

TVHS senior, Tanner Hoover, signed to play football at Denison University. Some of his accomplishments on the field include 1st Team All MSL - Junior & Senior years, 1st Team All Pickaway County - Junior & Senior Years, Special Mention in Central District - Junior & Senior Years and Lineman/Linebacker of the Year Award for Teays Valley - Junior & Senior Years.

TVHS senior Christian Battle signed to wrestle at Notre Dame College in Cleveland. Some of Christians accomplishments on the mat include 46-6 record, 1st Team MSL, 1st Team County, District Qualifier, Team Captain, lead the team in wins with 46 - top 5 All Time Win Club and 26 Pins.

Teays Valley High School senior Jessie VonIns signed to play volleyball at the University of Findlay. VonIns' accomplishments on the volleyball court include 1st Team Mid-State League Honors as a sophomore, junior and senior. During her junior year, she was also named the MSL Player of the Year and chosen for the Central District 1st Team and Honorable Mention All Ohio.

Congratulations to Senior Walter Stewart who signed to play football at the University of Cincinnati. Walt earned 1st MSL honors and was named MSL Lineman of Year during the 2007 season

Amanda Porter to Run at Shawnee StateAmanda Porter
On January 10, Teays Valley High School Senior, Amanda Porter, signed to run cross country for Shawnee State University. Porter was the Captain of the cross country team. She was awarded the Viking Coach's Award, Mid-State All League, 1st Team All League, regional and district qualifier and Cross Country MVP.

The 8th grade baseball team of Teays Valley East Middle School wrapped up their 2010 campaign with a 26-1 victory over Teays Valley West. The East Vikings are the 2010 MSL Champions and only had one blemish on their record, a tough fought 5-3 loss to Logan Elm. The Vikes finished the year at 13-1 (two rainouts against Amanda Clearcreek and Hamilton Township were not able to be made up), while every other MSL team had at least three losses. Austin Cox picked up his fourth win of the year by throwing three good innings. Austin struck out three and yielded only one run. Patrick Williams shut the door on West by striking three batters out in the 4th inning.

Teays Valley had senior night on Monday before the Canal game.  Tv has 9 seniors Abby Roese, Kala Schif, Hannah Kinzer, Courtney branson, Brooke Buskirk, Alex Taylor, Keeley Odle, Lacey Dent, and Jordan Rasmussen.  The seniors with the help of their team members beat Canal last night to be MSL CHAMPS!  Congrats to the TV lady Vikes and all of their hard work!

Teays Valley lost a heart breaker to Gahanna 3-4 in 10 innings.  K. Gill pitched a complete game giving up just 1 earned run, while striking out 8 Lions.     K. Gill also led the Vikings at the plate going 3/4.  D. Dziewatowski and T. Fliger each had two hits.  K. McManus, T. McLaughlin, M. Heslop, A. Rice and R. Teets each added a hit a piece.

The Freshman Lady Vikings won tonight 11-1 in the 5th to move their record to 13-2!  Way to go Ladies!  The ladies complete their season next week with two home games Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Vikings defeated the Braves 8-4.  Brittany Tucker pitched giving up 3 hits, with 3 strikeouts, and 3 walks.  Gabby Gregg was behind the plate.  Brittany Tucker had 2 triples, Suzanne Mays 3 singles, Sadie Bentley a double, Darby Martin 2 singles, and Allie Cartwright Gabby Gregg, Ciera Coleman and Tilly Hipwell all singled.  The ladies had a solid defensive effort, and are now 7-2 on the season.

Teays Valley was once again knocking on the door to winning their first match as a team this year, but once again lost to their opponent 2-3.  Garrett Strawser lost to his opponent 0-6, 1-6.  Jacob Studebaker lost to his opponent 0-6, 3-6 and Cody Craig was defeated at the Third Singles flight 1-6, 1-6.  The two doubles teams both won their matches.  At First Doubles, Rex Carlyle and Kyle Lally won their first match of the year defeating their opponents 6-4, 6-3 while Jorge Salvatierra and Jordan Hill won their second match of the year, defeating their opponents 6-2, 6-0.

Lady Vikings had a good showing at the Cole McCafferty meet at Amanda on friday scoring 40 points good enough for eighth place, there we're 12 teams competing ,Morgan Crecelius placed 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 33'6",numerous girls also scored points for the vikings.Next meet at Hamilton on tuesday.

The Athletic Department offers a FAN-tastic Pass that allows our fans to save money on attendance at home events. The pass is good for 15 admissions to REGULAR season, HOME events. Special events such as Mid-State League or OHSAA tournaments are excluded.  The cost of the pass for High School Events is $40 for adults and $25 for students.  The cost of the pass for Middle School events is $30 for adults and $15 for students.  Click here to go to a printable order form.  Thank you for your support of our athletic programs.
ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY...
Athletes entering grades 10th through 12th must have passed classes counting five credits towards graduation during the last grading period. Athletes entering grade 8 must have passed 75% of their classes that met everyday during the last grading period. All incoming seventh and ninth graders are eligible at the respective level with respect to OHSAA eligibility standards. Please note that Summer school classes can not be used to make up for failing credits from the last grading period.  With respect to Teays Valley Board of Education eligibility standards, all athletes have had at least a 1.5 grade point average and no more than one failing during the last grading period to be eligible.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION...
All athletes must have a record of having had a physical exam within the last calendar year on file in the athletic director’s office before they are permitted to practice.  Go to a printable form physical now. You will need Acrobat Reader to print form.  Download Acrobat now.
