The 2005 season opened with some physical play against Lancaster on Tuesday. Lancaster opened with the 1st goal halfway through the 1st half. The Vikings countered with a goal by Zack (Bip) Roberts shortly after Lancasters 1st successful strike. Bip was assisted by Heath Zealer and Matt Frazier. Frazier sent an indirect kick 40 yards downfield to "Z" who flicked it on to Bip. At halftime the score was 1-1. Shortly after the 2nd half started, Teays Valley found adversity when Lancaster scored on a penalty kick to take the lead 2-1. Lancaster soon took advantage on a misplaced ball and took the lead 3-1. 2005-09-16Location: AwayTeays Valley: 7Amanda-Cleercreak: 0

The Varsity boys win their second game in a row by beating conference foe Amanda-Clearcreek 7-0. After starting the season on a bad foot, they are pulling together and working better as a team. The Head Coach for Amanda (who lost to Zane Trace 6-0) said, "Oh, you guys are better than ZT. It must have been their night." The talk of the night was Matt Frazier's move from Sweeper to Forward. The move paid dividends very early as Matt scored the first two goals of the game. "I just know what makes defenses mad" when asked about his performance. Also scoring for the team was Zach Roberts, Heath Zealer, Gil Bedicks, and Carson Wilshire came out of the goal to score one. Between the pipes was Carson who recorded the shut out until Zack Spriggs came in at the 55-minute mark. The team gave up only 3 shots and only one on-goal. The offense compiled 19 shots total while 10 of those were on goal. Next game is at Hilliard Darby on 9/17.
2005-09-17Location: AwayTeays Valley: 1Hilliard Darby: 1

The Varsity boys continue to gain confidence as they tie Hilliard Darby on the road. The tie moves them to 2-0-1 in their past 3 games and gives them momentum going into conference foe Fairfield Union. The scoring was started by Darby on a PK with less than 5 minutes left to go in the 1st half. At half time, spirits were high in the belief they could accomplish the task at hand. After the two teams battled it out for 75 minutes, Heath Zealer took a shot that made Teays Valleys beliefs a reality. Between the "pipes", Carson Wilshire made many great saves with a total of 7 to ensure the tie. Next game is home against Fairfield Union on 9/22. The Centennial game has been rescheduled for 9/24 at 11:45am.
2005-09-22Location: HomeTeays Valley: 4Fairfield Union: 2

2:52 into the game, Teays Valley was leading 2-0 off of 2 beautiful assist from Zach Roberts to 2 blasts from Heath Zealer. Conference rival Fairfield Union didn't bow out though. At the 6:05 marker they retaliated to make the score 2-1. The Vikings kept their composure and scored on a cross from Willie Perez to Matt Frazier at 27:48 to make it 3-1 in favor of the Vikes. Adversity soon struck when Tim Scott was whistled for a red card in route to saving a goal. The Vikes would now be down a man for the entire second half. The second half started with the Vikings hanging in and playing tough defense but Fairfield Union moved one step closer to a tie by scoring at 62:16 making the score 3-2. Soon after (68:12), Heath Zealer completed the hat trick and gave the Vikes more breathing room. Between the pipes, Carson Wilshire made many great saves to ensure the win. The Vikings are now 2-1-0 in the MSL and 5-3-2 overall. Next game is home this Saturday versus Centennial.
2005-09-24Location: HomeTeays Valley: 4Centennial: 2

The Vikings started off the day already with some bad news. Two defensive starters were not in the line up. That did not phase them though as they went on to win. The first two goals, both in the first half, were by Willie Perez who gave the Vikings another added attacking dimension for their opposition to worry about. In the second half, goals were by Zach Roberts and Heath Zealer, all of which lead the team in goals scored. The boys have until next Thursday to focus on conference rival Circleville. Their record moves to 6-3-2 overall and 2-1-0 in the conference. They are 4-0-1 in the last five games.
2005-09-29Location: AwayTeays Valley: 3Circleville: 3

The Vikings played conference rival Circleville to a 3-3 tie on Thursday night. With 2:50 left in the game the Tigers scored the tying goal to send the Vikings home with a 6-3-3 record, and a 2-1-1 MSL record. Goals were by Heath Zealer (who had 2) and Zach Roberts. 2005-10-01Location: HomeTeays Valley: 4Big Walnut: 8

Big Walnut came into town with a 7-3-0 record and ranked #4 in Division 2 Central Ohio polls. So when the boys took a 3-2 lead midway through the 1st half, they knew they could compete with a ranked opponent. Compete they did, but the ranked opponent proved to be too much for them in the end. Scoring for the Vikes were Heath Zealer, Tim Scott and 2 by Zach Roberts. Assists were by Willie Perez, Alex Torr and Matt Frazier. The boys move to 6-4-3 and will be on the road this Thursday against conference rival Bloom Carroll.
2005-10-06Location: AwayTeays Valley: 1Bloom Carroll: 3

Teays Valley played a hard fought game against BC Thursday night, but ended in favor of #4 in the State, division 3, Bloom Carroll. The boys felt confident at half being down 1-2 because of the scoring opportunities they created. Those opportunities were high lighted by a beautiful goal from Heath Zealer, which was set up by Zach Roberts. The second half also proved to be just as much of a fight as the first half due to the BC defense keeping our offense at bay. The boys fall to 6-5-3 and 3-2-1 in the conference. Next up is Fisher Cath. on 10/8.
2005-10-08Location: AwayTeays Valley: 6Fisher Catholic: 2

2006-08-31Location: HomeTeays Valley: 1Canal Winchester: 2

The boys suffered their first loss this season but they still have fight in them. Losing to Canal is tough, but they fought hard and never gave up. At half time the score was 1-1 with the lone goal by Heath Zealer. With 20 minutes left in the game, Canal scored on an unlucky bounce. Never-the-less, the boys played hard and we look to see them pay back Zane Trace for last year. They play the 2005 State Semi-finalist on Saturday at their place. Good luck boys.

With the younger boys getting more experience the team becomes deeper and we are starting to see some of them stepping up. The scorers were a hat trick by Heath Zealer and a goal by Kaleb Watkins. The hat trick puts Heath among the top in the state in goals scored with 21. Assisting in one of his goals was Asa Finley who is stepping up his play, which we need badly. The boys go to 6-3-1 overall and next go to Chillicothe to play a non-conference game.

Heart, determination and guts is what the boys showed tonight going down early to the Cavs 1-0. With 4 starters out due to injuries, again the young boys were asked to step in a fill in the gaps. And that they did! Riding the Heath Zealer wave, the boys hung tough as they watched Heath get the hat-trick. But this is no "one-man-show". Spriggs had 7 strong saves between the pipes and the defense held strong while hobbling with Scott out, Sharp hobbled, Finley out, Hatem hobbled and Redman hobbled. Yet anchored by Matt Gribler, the boys beat the disgruntled Cavs 3-2. They are now 7-3-1 and gaining momentum. Next up, Lakewood on Thursday.
