The cross country team competed in their first meet on Saturday at the Circleville Bible College. The girls placed 8th with top finishers being Sara Thompson (15th), Ashia Martin (40th), and Rachel McDonald (43rd). The boys team placed 7th and the top finishers were Dominic Koah (19th), Zane Grabans (46th), and Todd McDermott (57th).

The middle school boys ran at Circleville this past Saturday. 8th grader Chris Varian placed 3rd with a time of 11:55.20. Todd McDermott placed 28th running a time of 13:23.59. Sam Stewart placed 71st, Jordon Hill was 86th, Jon Parfitt was 93rd, and Jonathan Davis was 100th. There were 113 boys in the race. Everyone improved their times by minutes from last week.

8th grader Chris Varian continued to impress with a 2nd place finish at Watkins Memorial on Saturday. He was 2 seconds off the race winner running a time of 11:58. Todd McDermott ran really well placing 39th with a time of 13:59. Sam Stewart placed 76th, Jon Parfitt was 86th, and Jonathon Davis was 88th.

The junior high boys placed 19th at Lancaster on Saturday. Chris Varian led the Vikings with a 4th place finish. Todd McDermott was 43rd. The Junior High Team will run at Rio Grande next Saturday.

The Middle School Vikings ran their first race at Newark Catholic on Saturday. Michael Hutter, Wesley Call, Ben Barr, and Jordon Hill all ran very well for the Vikings. The entire boys team will run next week at Circleville.

The Viking Boys placed 9th at the Circleville Invitational on Saturday. Michael Hutter continued to impress with a 10th place finish and running a time of 12:42. Jacob Richards came in 2nd for the Vikings running 14:28. Wessley Call, Benn Barr, and Tim Reis rounded out the scoring for the Vikings. Great job to all of the Vikings who ran!

The Teays Valley Boys Varsity Basketball Team struggled to stop a hot shooting Hamilton Township team Saturday night. Hamilton scored 44 points in the second half and hit 7 of 8 three point attempts and the Vikings were unable to keep pace. Scoring for the Vikings: Heckler 5, Dresbach 18, Zwayer 4, Ell 7, Race 11, Anderson 5, Freeman 6, Trego 4.

The Teays Valley Middle School Boys ran their best race of the season at Jonathon Alder on Saturday. All seven runners posted personal best times for the season lead by Garrett Gilliland's 8th place finish in a time of 12:38 over the two mile course. Luke Nace, Josh Hill, Thomas Sharp, Zack O'Donnell, Andy Easterday, and Travis Holbrook all improved their times by over 25 seconds.

Teays Valley East and West Middle Schools began their season at the Newark Catholic Invitational this past weekend. Teays Valley East Middle School finished fifth out of nine teams. Leading the way was Garrett Gilliland with a 4th place finish overall.
